Finishing A Large Basement
Sam’s home was large at around 4,000 square feet. And his unfinished basement was around 1,500 square feet. Sam wanted his basement finished, and he had big plans for what he wanted.
He chose Executive Remodeling for his project and gave us a call. We scheduled a consultation with him and sent him some pre-meeting information so we could hit the ground running.
When meeting with Sam, we learned of everything he envisioned for his basement, including:
- Bedroom
- Fireplace
- Living Room
- Exercise Room
Sam’s plans for his basement were indeed well thought out. So, we leapt into the design process. Making sure everything was gorgeous, functional, and to Sam’s liking. And during the selection phase, he chose the products and materials he wanted in his basement.
We’ll walk you through our home remodeling process at Executive Remodeling with excellent customer service and outstanding communication.
Handling Problems That Arise
Almost no home remodeling project goes 100% perfectly as planned. And, of course, Sam’s basement was no different.
While bringing equipment down into the basement was a bit tricky, we did run into a problem. As we were building Sam’s bathroom, we discovered the water line coming in from the city was broken.
And the water was coming in!
We worked to stop the water from flooding the basement. We went to Sam, who needed to talk to the city. A technician had to come out and install a new shutoff at the street.
We cleaned up the water in the bathroom area, and after the water line was fixed and working correctly, we continued the installation.
Giving Homeowners What They Want
Things ran smoothly as we meticulously constructed Sam’s basement. We installed look-out windows in the large family room and bedroom to bring in more light. We also built the gas fireplace in the family room as well.
The other areas were like a typical basement without windows – the bathroom, exercise room, large closet, and a hallway.
As an added touch, we framed the mechanical room. This way, you couldn’t see the water heater and the furnace.
It was basically a small house down there without a kitchen, and Sam was pleased. Everything turned out the way he envisioned.
Sam had his new basement to enjoy, and we had one more satisfied client.
