Granite vs Quartz Countertops - Executive Remodeling

Written by Nathaniel Glover - Web Developer | Mar. 18, 2021

Granite and quartz both have a lifespan of up to 50 years if properly cared for. The price between the two, including the cost of installation, can be comparable, so it will likely come down to a personal preference. Regardless of your choice, Executive Remodeling would like to help you with your Twin Cities kitchen remodel.

Here are some of the differences between the two types of countertops:

Granite:

  • All-Natural stone mined from quarries around the world
  • Large range of colors and patterns
  • Should be cleaned with soap and water, and resealed annually
  • Durable and resistant to heat and other kitchen elements
  • Stains may occur if spilled liquids left for long periods of time; may also be damaged from high-impact blows

Quartz:

  • Manufactured product using approximately 95% ground natural quartz and 5% polymer resin
  • The look of stone with a customized design
  • Easier to match your color scheme than with quartz
  • Must be cleaned after all spills; no other maintenance needed
  • Non Porous, meaning it’s easier to keep free of germs
  • Not necessary to seal a quartz countertop
  • Durable and nearly indestructible, but can be damaged by excessive heat
